Educators engage in professional learning.

I went to a Pro D workshop that allowed us to interact with a new resource for SD #57, a giant map of Canada that also comes with a lot of information, flash cards, lesson ideas,etc. As an adult I thought it was awesome, so I can see how students would love it as well. I loved how it fully incorporated Canada’s history with it’s indigenous peoples.

 

I had the opportunity to interact with a new math program with my Coaching Teacher during my four week practicum as part of a Professional Development day. He and another grade 3 teacher from Lac des Bois were interested in possibly implementing the Mathology/Mathologie program in their classrooms. However, to us it seemed that the program was designed for first language French learners and wouldn’t be suitable for the second language French learners in their classes as the vocabulary was a little bit too advanced and the focus would have been more in line with language arts than math.
